Grapes are vigorous woody vines used both for fruit production and ornamental screening. In the landscape they provide lush summer coverage on trellises, arbors, and fences, creating shade and a productive canopy. Their broad leaves create dense seasonal cover, and in fall many varieties develop yellow to red foliage before dropping. Grapes are especially useful in edible landscapes and backyard orchard settings where structure and harvest value are equally important. When trained properly, they create attractive green walls and shaded patio areas while producing abundant fruit.
