Hawthorns prefer full sun and well-drained soils. They have low water needs once established and tolerate drought and wind well. Water regularly during establishment. Pruning may be required to maintain structure and remove crossing branches. Winter protection is generally not necessary. With proper care, they provide multi-season interest and durability.
