Red yucca, often referred to as false yucca, is a drought-tolerant accent plant valued for its arching, grass-like foliage and tall flower spikes that bloom from late spring through summer. The tubular coral to red flowers attract hummingbirds and add vertical interest in xeric landscapes. Its clean, architectural form makes it an excellent focal point in rock gardens, modern plantings, and water-wise beds.

Red yucca thrives in full sun and sharply drained soil. It has very low water needs once established and performs best with deep, infrequent watering. Water regularly during establishment, then reduce irrigation. Pruning is minimal and typically limited to removing spent flower stalks and damaged leaves. Fall dieback cutback is not necessary. Winter protection is generally not required in Rocky Mountain climates, though excellent drainage is critical for winter survival.
