• PPE: Gloves are recommended due to the sharp edges zinc coating can have, especially after cutting.

Cutting and Preparation:

• Cutting: Use a hacksaw or pipe cutter designed for metal. After cutting, deburr the inside and outside to ensure smooth connections and reduce corrosion risk.
• Threading: If threading is necessary, use the correct die for galvanized steel. Clean any metal shavings or burrs before connecting to prevent leaks.

Installation:

• Tightening: Galvanized fittings might need more torque than others, but be careful not to over-tighten, which can strip threads. Use pipe dope or Teflon tape for extra sealing.
• Support: Ensure pipes are adequately supported. The weight and potential for expansion/contraction mean you need solid, spaced-out supports.
