UNIQUE CONSIDERATIONS - This is one of the most visible weed problems clients notice — results matter and are highly visible to neighbors and passersby. - Concrete and asphalt are impermeable — product applied to the crack goes directly to the root zone. Less product is usually more effective here. - Sidewalks in residential areas often have lawn growing right to the edge — overspray onto turf with a non-selective herbicide causes immediate visible damage. - Sidewalk edges bordering lawn require a shielded or pinpoint applicator — no flat fan spray. - High pedestrian traffic areas require attention to wet product — a wet sidewalk is a slip hazard and a liability. PRODUCT RESTRICTIONS - Non-selective herbicides (glyphosate-based) are appropriate for crack treatment but must be applied with precision to avoid turf contact. - Soil sterilant products are generally not appropriate in residential sidewalk settings — residual can migrate under the slab and emerge in unintended areas. - Do not use products with long soil residual activity where sidewalk edges border lawn or ornamental beds.
