One-seed juniper is a rugged native evergreen tree or large shrub found in drier regions of the Southwest and southern Rocky Mountain foothills. It develops an irregular, often multi-trunked form with dense branching and blue-green foliage. Its natural shape gives it a strong, rustic character well suited to xeric landscapes and naturalized plantings. Because of its drought tolerance and adaptability, it is often used in restoration or low-water landscapes where a tough evergreen is needed.

Care Instructions

This species performs best in full sun and well-drained soils and has very low water needs once established. It is highly drought tolerant and requires little maintenance. Winter protection is not necessary. Pruning is minimal and generally limited to removal of dead or damaged branches. Proper spacing allows the plant to develop its natural form.
